Melanie Shankle's Everyday Holy: Finding a Big God in the Little Moments is a book of 100 devotionals that illustrate how God works in our lives taking something ordinary and making it extraordinary. Shankle is a gifted writer (a New York Times bestselling author, although I had never heard of her or read anything by her). Each essay provides a quick illustration of a deeper concept and something practical to hang your hat on.
As is often the case, I read the book in a few sittings, rather than the intended devotional-a-day plan. I liked how easy it was to pick up in my downtime and quickly digest nuggets of insight or new angles for old stories. I'd recommend this devotional for women who are interested in rising above the weariness of ordinary days.
